Flying in Florida is an exciting experience. There are many places to fly in virtually
unrestricted airspace and with the differential in flying costs it is a cheap option if
you are looking to hour build towards a commercial licence, or even if you just wish to
fly for fun, as I do. On average you can expect to pay at least half, if not less, of what
you would pay in the United Kingdom to hire an aircraft, depending on current exchange
rates. With no landing fees at virtually all airfields you can carry out touch and go
landings or brush up on your instrument flying skills, all at no extra cost.
More and more pilots are discovering for themselves the real pleasure of flying in
Florida. This book will hopefully help you to understand not only the differences between
flying in UK and US Airspace but also help you with suggestions and recommendations as to
where to fly so that you will be able to make the most of your trip.
The book is not intended as a
definitive guide to the aviation regulations and before flying in the USA you must consult
an up-to-date edition of the Federal Aviation Administration Regulations. In addition, the
aviation charts reproduced in the book are not to be used for navigational purposes and
you must ensure that you refer to the current sectionals when planning your flight.
Please note that the information relating to airfields, restaurants, museums and other
attractions may have changed after the date of publication and before making a specific
journey you are advised to make your own enquiries to confirm the details.
