Flyer Magazine Review

Flying in Florida was reviewed by Geoffrey Boot in the July 2000 edition of Flyer Magazine as follows:
"I am always a bit sceptical when presented with so called "Guides to...". They are frequently cumbersome, pedantic, reflect a personal view and, worse still, are out of date.
When it comes to "Flying in Florida" the book nearly avoids all these pitfalls, being small enough to carry easily, well laid out and, better still, gives you the information you need in exactly the right order.
It perhaps paints a paradise that, in reality, is more complex and daunting than one might perceive from a casual read. But then the purpose, I guess, is to encourage rather than dissuade. In general, the information is as up-to-date as you are going to get.
Unfortunately, however, it does not cover the Bahamas - which many may consider as essential. Additionally there is no information on hiring, which would be very useful.
The airfield section probably reflects the author's preferences and why not? There are only so many airfields you can cover in one guide. That said, the pictures of the many airfields, local information and contact numbers are very useful.
If only this had been available 12 years ago when I made my first flight to Florida, I would have been a lot more relaxed."

Please note that following the tragic events of 11 September many of the FAA requirements to obtain a Certificate based on the UK Licence have changed. Please check the FAA website for up-to-date guidance.
Unfortunately my book is now out of print with Seager Publishing and Flyer Magazine and I am currently working on a complete update to be published in due course. If you do find that any of the details in this guide are incorrect I would welcome your feedback to ensure that the next revision is as up to date as possible.
